My Review:

Where do I start? This was mind-blowing!

I was very much looking forward to this, after all it concludes the True Calling trilogy.

Ari has now regained her memory after her Vita implant was successfully removed. She remembered something dreadful that involved Zane and it made her feel guilty all over. She's not willing to open up tp Cal about it as she's afraid he will see less of her once he finds out about it.

Throughout the book, it was fast paced and action packed, with the unfortunate loss of lives of several characters we know about.

There was a big reveal quite early on that totally caught me off guard. I could not have predicted it at all but it made sense and you realise how it's connected to the past.

Ari made her decision quite early on regarding who she loves most and wants to spend the rest of her life with. I had secretly hoped that she'd change her mind in the end. But the author tackled the love triangle really well and I was very satisfied with the ending.

The complete True Calling series is highly recommended and I now look forward to another brand new series (the Saven series) by the author!

Book review - The Selection by Kiera Cass

I loved The Selection.
I don't care what the other reviewers say, but this book is near perfection for me.

America Singer comes from a poor family from the caste of Fives.
She received a letter inviting her to apply for the Selection, in which a girl from each Province will be sent to the Palace as a potential wife for the crown prince Maxon of Illéa.

The entire Selection will be aired on TV and as you can imagine America was very reluctant to apply. Her mom pesters her about it everyday and even bribed her to sign up. She has a secret boyfriend who's a Six and he managed to persuade her to enter her name into the lottery too.

She did enter in the end and she was selected to represent her Province in the Selection. So off she went to the Palace to meet the other 34 girls. As expected, the competition was very fierce with some particularly bad characters trying to sabotage everyone else's chances with Maxon.

At the end of the book, Maxon had to narrow down to the Elite few. There was supposed to be the top 10 girls who would be the Elite but Maxon made the difficult decision to only pick out 6 girls, America included.

We will find out what happens during the next round as the top 6 battle out in book #2 The Elite.

Book review - Shattered Witness by Anna DeStefano

This is the first book I've read by Anna DeStefano. The book cover initially drew me to it and as I started reading I got caught up in the story.

Shaw Cassidy is the CEO of her family business but she was attacked which left her with amnesia. She was accused of treason but because she's lost her memories she couldn't prove her innocence. She was advised to retreat to her grandmother's mansion in the mountains to recover and recuperate.

Enter Cole Marinos who is Shaw's ex-lover and an FBI agent. He was called to this task due to their history. He would monitor and protect Shaw without her knowing, until one day she freaked out and ran out of the mansion and Cole then made his presence known to Shaw.

What happened over the next 2 days since their encounter helped Shaw bring back a lot of her memories that no other agents or Doctor could. Even though Shaw couldn't remember Cole, her heart and body remembered and they fell for each other uncontrollably.

All while this was happening, the villain of the story continued tormenting Shaw. It was pretty easy to guess early on who he is.

All in all, this was a satisfying read with a happy ending. My favourite parts of the book were when Shaw and Cole were drawn into each other and what they have together is very real and bold. Good read!

Book review - Light Of A Thousand Stars by Siobhan Davis

Ariana Skyee has been the center of Zane Anders’ world for years. They got together as a couple ten months ago, so Zane finally has the girl of his dreams. Life should be peachy.

This novella had my mind-blown and I'm asking for more!!

Light Of A Thousand Stars is told from Zane's POV and takes place before True Calling. We get to read about Zane and Ari's time together and it's evident they love each other deeply and are made for each other.

However the move to Novo was imminent and Zane was to be separated from Ari.

From this novella, we also read about Zane's best friend Gil and Ari's best friend Joy, but they weren't mentioned in previous books so I'm not sure they made it to Novo.

Ari was plagued by nightmares of an event that took place just after she got together with Zane. However we were not told the details of it. I wonder if this is something significant that Ari has remembered at the end of Beyond Reach.

Siobhan Davis has left me wanting for more and I cannot wait for Destiny Rising, the final book in the True Calling series.

Book review - Letters to the Lost by Iona Grey

I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5.

This is a moving and beautifully written book about the love story between an USAAF Dan Rosinski and a young Mrs Stella Thorne.

Dan and Stella met by chance in a ruins of a church in the 1940's and they started writing each other love letters.

These love letters are discovered in 2011 by a young Jess when she was on the run from her abusive boyfriend Dodge. She was a squatter in an abandoned cottage house where she found these letters and met probate researcher Will who was trying to find any heirs of the house.

Jess was fascinated by the letters and was determined to help reunite Dan and Stella, and with Will's help they embark on a journey that also allows them to discover for themselves what they have between them.

Initially, the book was structed so that one chapter is in the 1940's and the next is in 2011. However as I read on, I sometimes find that within the same chapter you jump between the two which was a bit confusing, that's why I deduct half a star from my rating.

All in all, this was a very good read which I try to lose myself in any possible spare time I have, e.g. lunch breaks, tea breaks, travelling on the tube/train... highly recommended!

Book review - April's Rain by David Johnson

This is the first book I've read from this author and certainly the first from the Tucker series too.

When I started reading the first chapter that was told from Tucker's pov I was afraid the rest of the book was going to be told in the same style. I was glad to find out it was only Tucker's narrative that was difficult to read.

I very much enjoyed April's and March's narratives and couldn't wait to read more (on the other hand I had to half-skim through Tucker's because I really found it hard to read).

Even though this is the 3rd book in the Tucker series I find it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

I would recommend this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Wow, another good read from Siobhan Davis.

I'm already a massive fan of book #1 (True Calling) and this book has lived up to its expectation and more.

This book is action packed and hard to put down.

Ariana is now back on Earth with Zane, but Cal is still on Novo alongside her Mom and Sister.

She's shown evidence of Cal's betrayal and she's thoroughly confused about it, further more she's started to develop feelings for Zane.

Towards the end of the book, we were told that Ariana has started to regain all of her memories. She's remembered something very significant and life-changing. What is it and how does it affect her relationship with Cal / Zane?

I can't wait to find out in the next book!!!

Book review - Lovestruck (novella) by Siobhan Davis

Everything changed the moment he found her…

This in an interesting and sweet novella told from Cal's perspective.

I read this after True Calling and before Beyond Reach. Before reading this, I had doubts about Cal's true intentions towards Ariana, now I know his feelings for her are real.

The events in this novella happens before True Calling and we see how Cal has fallen head over heels for Ariana but she doesn't know it. Somehow she sees Cal as very vain and felt she was constantly being teased by him. In fact he's being obsessed by her and even starts stalking her.

All in all it provided some useful insights into Cal's world and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Wow. This was an amazing read.

I love the cover and that's what attracted me to it in the first place. Then I started reading and just couldn't put it down!

True Calling starts off with 17 year-old Ariana on the planet Novo. She and her family were relocated there from Earth 2 years ago. All's well until the government introduced "The Calling" which is a pageant that all 17 year-olds must participate in, to find their lifetime partner.

As expected, Ariana wasn't happy about it and couldn't understand why she doesn't have a say in her future. And that's when she started to get close to Cal, who incidentally appears in her Top Ten list of suitors on The Calling.

Then we read about Ariana having dreams about a boy called Zane. Who is Zane? We find out more about him when Part 2 of the book is written from his perspective.

All in all this is a well-written book and I look forward to the 2nd and 3rd books!
